We’re looking for a curious, commercially minded Data Scientist to help shape the future of pet care through advanced analytics, predictive modelling, optimisation and marketing personalisation. About the Role As part of our Data Science & Insights team, you’ll work across the entire Pets at Home Group – using data to spark debate, influence decisions and drive meaningful change for millions of customers. The role offers hybrid working from our Support Office in Handforth, Cheshire. Key responsibilities will include: • Turning complex data from a wide range of sources into thought‑provoking insights that guide strategic conversations at all levels • Building evidence‑based stories and presenting them in compelling, action‑driving ways • Acting as a domain expert within Advanced Analytics, spotting commercially valuable opportunities for our brands and customers • Developing and deploying data science products that enhance understanding, improve operations and support smarter decision‑making • Leading by example: sharing expertise, championing best practices and helping upskill colleagues across Data Science and the wider business What you’ll bring Essential • Proven experience applying Data Science techniques to deliver real commercial impact, ideally in a consumer‑focused environment • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large‑scale data warehouses • Hands‑on experience with R and/or Python • Solid understanding of core methods: classification, regression, forecasting, clustering, nearest neighbour, neural networks, embeddings, dimensionality reduction and anomaly detection • Strong statistical knowledge and the ability to translate complex findings for non‑technical audiences • Experience delivering end‑to‑end data science projects, from scoping and data gathering through to deployment and measurable success Desirable • Exposure to GIS and geospatial analytics • Experience with marketing attribution modelling • Experience working on large‑scale recommendation or personalisation engines If you're excited about using data to shape the future of pet care and want to work in a team that values curiosity, collaboration and innovation, we’d love to hear from you.
