This role combines individual statistical design and strategic contributions with the opportunity to lead, manage, and develop a small group of Statisticians.\n\nThe Director of Statistical Science reports to the Head of GMA/Payer Biostatistics and will be responsible for the delivery of services to the groups two key stakeholders, GMA and Oncology Market Access and Pricing (OMAP). For GMA, the group provides statistical support for interventional and Real World Evidence (RWE) studies, including developing design options and providing high quality decision support. For OMAP, the group provides statistical support for the Global Oncology Payer Function via the application of quantitative skills to support decision-making processes and value demonstration, including contributing to Health Technology Assessment (HTA) submissions.\n\nAccountabilities\n\nAs a Director of Statistical Science you will line manage and develop a team of statisticians. You will be expected to:\n\nTake on a leadership role and drive statistical thinking in cross-functional team projects\n\nLead, manage, and develop a global group of statisticians, ensuring the successful delivery of projects while also considering the development needs of the team\n\nContribute to strategic planning and quantitative decision making\n\nParticipate in adapting and developing statistical methodology\n\nContribute to development of new procedures and standards to increase quality, efficiency, and effectiveness\n\nInfluence key stakeholders and governance\n\nAct as a technical expert in interactions with external providers and collaborators\n\nWork with regulatory and payer agencies, e.g. attending meetings, answering questions\n\nProvide mentoring to more junior staff and present at internal training seminars\n\nEssential Qualifications And Experience Include\n\nMSc or Ph.D. Statistics, Biostatistics, or Mathematics (containing a substantial mathematical component).\n\nExperience of leading projects and people in a pharmaceutical or CRO environment.\n\nPublication experience and/or experience of presenting at external meetings (e.g. ISPOR, PSI)\n\nDesirable Qualifications And Experience Include\n\nProgramming expertise in R, WinBugs and/or SAS.\n\nExperience of reimbursement submissions in key markets (e.g. UK and Germany.).\n\nRegulatory submission experience in key markets (e.g. EU and USA.)\n\nApplication of indirect comparison methodology (e.g. Bayesian/Frequentist NMA and MAIC/STC methodologies).\n\nExperience of performing adjustment for treatment switching/cross-over within clinical trials (e.g. RPSFT and IPCW methodology.).\n\nAnalysis of health utility data including mapping and value set application.\n\nApplication of causal inference models to clinical trial and RWE data.\n\nExperience of working with RWE datasets and registries (e.g. Flatiron.).\n\nWhy AstraZeneca?\n\nIt's a place to think differently - to find new ways of handling and treating diseases.
