  "job_description": "We’re looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer (Power BI)\n\nThis is a pivotal role shaping how data becomes insight across our organisation.\n\nOur data tells the story of everything we do – from child development outcomes and family support services to social impact, pedagogy research, organisational performance and nursery operations. Your role will be to transform this diverse landscape into clear, trusted intelligence that supports better decisions across LEYF.\n\nYou’ll modernise our reporting environment, transitioning Excel-based reporting into robust, scalable Power BI solutions, while establishing strong analytics foundations that enable teams to confidently access and use data.\n\nIf you enjoy turning complex data into meaningful insight, designing well-structured data models and building reporting environments that people trust, this could be the perfect role.\n\nWhat you’ll be doing\n\nDesigning powerful analytics solutions\n• Design, develop and optimise Power BI reports, dashboards and data models\n• Build robust DAX measures and datasets that support organisational insight\n• Create reporting that drives meaningful decision-making across the organisation\n• Present insights clearly and tell the story behind the data\n\nModernising our reporting environment\n• Review existing Excel-based reporting and transition it into scalable BI solutions\n• Simplify and rationalise legacy reports and data structures\n• Build reusable metrics and certified datasets to establish a single source of truth\n\nChampioning analytics best practice\n• Promote dimensional modelling and star schema design across reporting\n• Establish clear naming conventions, logic and documentation standards\n• Lead strong data mapping practices to ensure consistent definitions across systems\n• Maintain high standards for data governance, quality and security\n\nEnabling self-service analytics\n• Build datasets and reporting frameworks that empower teams to explore data independently\n• Support colleagues across the organisation to access and understand trusted insights\n• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business questions into analytics solutions\n\nSupporting the future of our data platform\n• Contribute to our longer-term move towards Microsoft Fabric\n• Support exploratory analytics projects and proof-of-concepts\n• Help shape the future direction of BI and analytics at LEYF\n\nCoaching and collaborating\n• Share analytics best practice with colleagues across teams\n• Mentor junior colleagues and support the growth of analytics capability\n• Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders across the organisation to uplift BI maturity\n\nWe’re looking for someone who…\n\nHas the right experience and skills\n• Strong experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards and datasets\n• Deep understanding of data modelling and dimensional modelling techniques\n• Experience building and optimising DAX measures and data models\n• Ability to modernise legacy reporting and transition Excel processes into BI solutions\n• Experience translating stakeholder requirements into effective analytics solutions\n• Strong understanding of data governance, quality and documentation practices\n\nBrings the behaviours that make this role shine\n• Analytical and curious with a passion for turning data into insight\n• Structured and detail-focused in how you design models and reporting\n• Confident communicator who can present insights to non-technical audiences\n• Collaborative and generous with knowledge, helping others build data capability\n• Comfortable balancing technical depth with business impact\n• Motivated by using data to support a meaningful social mission\n\nWhy you’ll love working at LEYF\n• Be part of an organisation making a genuine difference to children and families\n• Help shape how data informs decisions across our nursery network\n• Work in a values-led, people-centred culture\n• Hybrid working with a supportive central team\n• 70% childcare discount for your children or grandchildren\n• 26 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and your birthday off\n• 7% employer pension contribution\n\nWe welcome you exactly as you are\n\nA diverse team makes us stronger.
