Experteer Overview In this role you lead hands-on design, development and integration of monitoring and management software for BT’s Energy, Power & Cooling domain. Based in Glasgow, you’ll collaborate with a co-located, multi-disciplinary team to drive energy efficiency and resilience of BT’s critical national infrastructure. You will shape microservice-architecture solutions and lead a software team while engaging with stakeholders to deliver impactful outcomes. Pay / Benefits • Designing and developing microservice-architecture applications using Java/Spring Boot/RDBMS • Leading software engineering projects and directing a small team in Agile/Scrum contexts • Mentoring software engineers/associate engineers • Integrating software with plant hardware during design and development in the Glasgow test lab • Representing the software team at requirements and design workshops • Evaluating and selecting technologies (languages, frameworks, libraries) for component-level solutions • Managing IT infrastructure design from commissioning to ongoing support • Delivering test-driven development and embracing non-functional requirements (performance, reliability, availability) • Providing subject matter expertise and coordinating changes within the domain area • Collaborating with stakeholders to resolve technical issues and drive architectural decisions • Working with 3rd party regulatory/technical documentation to apply knowledge Tasks • 5+ years RDBMS development (Oracle and/or PostgreSQL) • Linux deployment architecture design for servers and networks • Experience with Kubernetes or other virtualization/containerization tech • CI/CD automation and orchestration • IT security best practices and DevOps understanding • Data analysis and reporting capabilities • BSc Hons Computing Science or similar degree • Experience with relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL/Oracle) • UML design documentation creation • Requirements-management tools (e.g., Jira) • Designing/developing code for systems with strong non-functional constraints • Microservice architectures using Spring and REST APIs • Version control experience • Show & Tell/presentations to stakeholders Key requirements • 10% on target bonus • BT Pension scheme with employee and BT contributions • Extended family leave from Jan 2025 • Enhanced women’s health support • 25 days annual leave + service-related increases • Private virtual GP appointments 24/7 for UK colleagues
