  "job_description": "Experteer Overview\nIn this role you lead hands-on design, development and integration of monitoring and management software for BT’s Energy, Power & Cooling domain. Based in Glasgow, you’ll collaborate with a co-located, multi-disciplinary team to drive energy efficiency and resilience of BT’s critical national infrastructure. You will shape microservice-architecture solutions and lead a software team while engaging with stakeholders to deliver impactful outcomes.\n\nPay / Benefits\n• Designing and developing microservice-architecture applications using Java/Spring Boot/RDBMS\n• Leading software engineering projects and directing a small team in Agile/Scrum contexts\n• Mentoring software engineers/associate engineers\n• Integrating software with plant hardware during design and development in the Glasgow test lab\n• Representing the software team at requirements and design workshops\n• Evaluating and selecting technologies (languages, frameworks, libraries) for component-level solutions\n• Managing IT infrastructure design from commissioning to ongoing support\n• Delivering test-driven development and embracing non-functional requirements (performance, reliability, availability)\n• Providing subject matter expertise and coordinating changes within the domain area\n• Collaborating with stakeholders to resolve technical issues and drive architectural decisions\n• Working with 3rd party regulatory/technical documentation to apply knowledge\n\nTasks\n• 5+ years RDBMS development (Oracle and/or PostgreSQL)\n• Linux deployment architecture design for servers and networks\n• Experience with Kubernetes or other virtualization/containerization tech\n• CI/CD automation and orchestration\n• IT security best practices and DevOps understanding\n• Data analysis and reporting capabilities\n• BSc Hons Computing Science or similar degree\n• Experience with relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL/Oracle)\n• UML design documentation creation\n• Requirements-management tools (e.g., Jira)\n• Designing/developing code for systems with strong non-functional constraints\n• Microservice architectures using Spring and REST APIs\n• Version control experience\n• Show & Tell/presentations to stakeholders\n\nKey requirements\n• 10% on target bonus\n• BT Pension scheme with employee and BT contributions\n• Extended family leave from Jan 2025\n• Enhanced women’s health support\n• 25 days annual leave + service-related increases\n• Private virtual GP appointments 24/7 for UK colleagues",
