Lead Structural Engineer • Job Type: Full-time, Office-based We are seeking an experienced Lead Structural Engineer to oversee and manage a variety of exciting projects in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on the role of Project Engineer and drive projects from concept to completion. The successful candidate will lead junior engineers, ensuring high standards of design and execution while managing resources and budgets effectively. Key Responsibilities: • Serve as the Project Engineer for projects of various scales in civil and building engineering. • Supervise, mentor, and coordinate the work of junior staff assigned to the project. • Prepare and verify design calculations for structural elements, ensuring safety and reliability. • Collaborate closely with the Project Director to explore specialist advice and implement optimal design solutions. • Create and validate technical drawings and specifications as required. • Oversee and manage project budgets and schedules on a daily basis. • Conduct engineering surveys and assessments of existing structures, compiling comprehensive technical reports. • Assist in drafting schedules of work, bills of quantities, and contract conditions for civil engineering projects. • Perform site inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications and drawings. • Engage with clients, local councils, authorities, and other professionals throughout the project lifecycle. • Stay updated on the latest industry developments through literature, courses, and seminars, committing to a minimum of 15 hours of relevant CPD annually. • Guide and support the professional growth of team members. • Contribute to the overall management of the office and actively promote the practice to secure new commissions. Skills & Qualifications: • Extensive experience as a Structural Engineer, preferably in a similar capacity. • Expertise in preparing and verifying design calculations and technical drawings. • Strong project management capabilities and a track record of supervising staff. • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders. • Dedication to continuous professional development and improvement. • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and adherence to Quality and Environmental standards.
