  "job_description": "Job Title: Site Engineer\nLocation: Edinburgh\nSalary: 45,000 + Car Allowance\nShift Type: Days\nBenefits: 26 days holiday + bank holidays, private healthcare, car allowance, company pension, volunteering days, healthcare cash plan, cycle to work scheme, car leasing scheme, discounted gym membership, life assurance, buy/sell holidays, additional retail discounts and cashback plans\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nAn a family-owned construction business is seeking a Site Engineer to join its delivery team on a major project in central Edinburgh.\n\nThis is an opportunity to join a highly skilled site team working on technically challenging reinforced concrete and groundworks schemes. The successful candidate will play a key role in the technical delivery of the project, supporting setting out, engineering coordination and quality assurance while working closely with site management and subcontractors.\n\nThe position would suit an engineer who enjoys technical detail, problem-solving and collaboration, and who wants to contribute to the successful delivery of complex construction projects.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nHealth, Safety, Environment & Sustainability\n• Support the delivery of project HSES targets and ensure safe working practices are maintained on site\n• Demonstrate an understanding of HSES regulations and communicate best practice to the workforce\n\nEngineering & Construction Delivery\n• Interpret engineering drawings and technical information, communicating this effectively to the site team\n• Produce mark-ups, sketches, and calculations to support site activities\n• Maintain accurate site diaries and engineering records\n• Provide technical feedback on project elements including materials, subcontractors and design information\n\nSetting Out & Survey Control\n• Carry out setting out and dimensional control for sections of the project\n• Produce as-built survey records for project documentation\n• Establish and maintain site control using primary control points\n• Manage and maintain survey equipment, ensuring calibration compliance\n\nDesign Coordination & Technical Information\n• Interrogate design information and raise RFIs or technical queries where required\n• Ensure all engineering documentation on site is current and approved for construction\n\nQuality Assurance\n• Assist in delivering the project Quality Plan and assurance targets\n• Conduct site inspections and resolve minor quality issues\n• Interpret specifications and assist in developing and implementing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)\n• Maintain permit-to-work documentation in line with project requirements\n\nProject Support\n• Provide material quantity information and call-offs\n• Assist with plant and logistics planning\n• Support temporary works coordination and inspections\n• Monitor programme progress and raise potential variations with senior or commercial teams\n\nAbout You\n\nTo be considered for this role, you should have:\n• HNC or higher qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Structural Engineering\n• Proven experience delivering setting out and engineering activities on RC frame or concrete construction projects\n• Strong knowledge of surveying and dimensional control techniques\n• Experience using CAD software for data transfer to/from survey equipment (EDM or similar)\n• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications\n• Experience mentoring junior engineers within a site environment\n• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving\n\nApply\n\nIf you are a Site Engineer looking to join a technically focused project team in Edinburgh, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.\n\nApply today or contact Pertemps Engineering Division for a confidential discussion.",
