  "job_description": "My client is looking for a talented and collaborative Principal Flood Modeller who shares their purpose and desire to make a positive difference to the world around them. Sustainable design is at the heart of the companies practice and collectively they feel they can create inspirational designs that will protect our climate and enhance the built environment.\n\nAs a Principal Flood Modeller, you will be a key figure within their Scotland studios, your remit will cover a range of technical, management and commercial / client-facing activities. You will be part of a growing team of flood modellers and flood risk practitioners working on projects throughout Scotland, England and Ireland.\n\nKey elements of the job\nLeading the delivery of flood Risk Assessments, Hydrological Assessments and Drainage Strategies.\nContributing to the effective design of flood alleviation schemes\nManaging projects and maintaining client relationships\nAssisting with winning work and the development of new business within the flooding sector\nProviding technical guidance, support and training to junior colleagues and assisting, where practicable, in the mentoring and development of others\nYou will get the opportunity to work on interesting and varied flood, coastal and maritime projects for clients including Local Authorities and private developers across Scotland, England & Ireland.\nSupport their clients to manage water, flooding and the coastal environment in a sustainable and innovative way.\nCo-ordinates, quality assures and leads the delivery of Flood Risk Assessments, Surface Water Management Plans and hydrological assessments.\nSupervises and mentors junior staff, managing small teams of staff on a project and supervisory basis\n\nQualifications\nA degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water & Environmental Management, or another related discipline.\nA chartered engineer with CIWEM or ICE.\nProven experience of 1D-2D modelling using Infoworks ICM or Flood Modeller.\nSignificant experience in carrying out flood risk analyses for planning, design purposes.\nAcknowledged professional profile in flood risk / hydrological assessment with a working knowledge of UK/Ireland hydrology guidance and regulations.\nGIS analytical skills in ArcGIS and QGIS\nDemonstrable experience co-ordinating, quality assuring and undertaking feasibility assessments, optioneering and outline and detailed design packages of work and producing engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and business case reports.\nExperience managing projects and ability to monitor and deliver work to the agreed budget, programme, and scope.\nCommercial awareness, including tendering for flood and coastal work.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complicated technical information to clients in a clear and transparent way.\nExperience managing/ supervising junior staff\nExperience in quality assurance (QA) processes, including the checking of others' outputs.\n\nKey Skills / Competencies\nExcellent communication & interpersonal skills\nProfessional and able to work with integrity\nAble to work effectively as part of a team\nHigh attention to detail\nAbility to work on own initiative & prioritise workload\nStrong decision-making & problem-solving skills\nExcellent time management & organisation skills\nAbility to follow instructions\nWorks well under pressure",
