This role is suited to someone who combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership experience, and who enjoys mentoring others, driving best practice, and delivering high-quality solutions in a collaborative Agile environment.\n\nYou will take ownership of complex Magento and front-end initiatives, influence technical direction, and work closely with Product, Design, and Operations to ensure our platforms remain scalable, secure, and high-performing.\n\nLocation: Hybrid / Remote flexibility\n\nHours: The role is a full-time position\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of Magento 2 (PHP) features, modules, and integrations, including REST and GraphQL APIs.\n• Drive front-end development using React (JavaScript/TypeScript), consuming Magento GraphQL endpoints to deliver high-quality customer experiences.\n• Own technical solutions from concept through to production, ensuring quality, performance, and maintainability.\n• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, architecture discussions, and best-practice guidance.\n• Mentor and support engineers, helping to raise standards and develop team capability.\n• Work closely with stakeholders to shape requirements and translate business needs into robust technical designs.\n• Identify and resolve complex technical, performance, and scalability issues across environments.\n• Support Agile delivery through sprint planning, refinement, and release management.\n• Promote strong documentation, knowledge sharing, and engineering culture.\n\nAbout You, Qualification and skills:\n\nEssential\n• 8+ years’ professional experience in software engineering, with strong focus on e-commerce platforms.\n• Proven commercial experience with Magento 2, including custom modules, integrations, upgrades, and GraphQL customisation.\n• Advanced PHP and MySQL skills, with performance-aware development practices.\n• Strong understanding of system architecture, design patterns, and scalable application design.\n• Solid front-end experience with React, CSS preprocessors, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.\n• Strong experience with GraphQL and REST API design and consumption.\n• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring.\n• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, caching layers, and Magento performance optimisation.\n• Previous experience in a formal technical lead or senior mentoring role.\n• Experience leading technical initiatives and influencing engineering standards.\n• Confident working with Git workflows and release management.\n• Comfortable operating in Agile environments and contributing to delivery planning.\n• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n• Strong ownership mindset with high standards for quality, reliability, and security.\n\nNice to Have\n• Experience with complex e-commerce integrations (payments, ERP, WMS, shipping, analytics).\n• Exposure to headless or composable commerce architectures.\n• Experience working in large-scale, multi-store or international e-commerce environments.\n\nWhat’s in it for you?\n\n• A senior role with real ownership of a large-scale e-commerce platform.\n\n• The opportunity to work with modern technologies including Magento 2, React, and GraphQL.\n\n• A collaborative, quality-focused engineering culture.\n\n• Hybrid or remote working.\n\n• Competitive salary and benefits package.\n\n• Ongoing learning and professional development support.\n\n• A stable, growing business with long-term investment in technology.\n\nOther benefits include:\n• 50% Staff discount\n• Regular Social events; Summer Party, Christmas Party, Occasional Football Events\n• Friendly and supportive team\n• EAP Employee Assistant Programme\n\nApplication:\n\n· Application method: please email CV and Cover Letter to recruitment@classicfootballshirts.co.uk\n\n· Please note: We are not engaging with recruitment agencies for this role, so we kindly ask that agencies do not contact us regarding this vacancy.",
