The company offers strong development opportunities, top of the line equipment and programmes and the option for overtime with great benefits.\n\nJob Title: Graduate/Junior Geotechnical Engineer\n\nLocation: Manchester/Liverpool area\n\nSalary: £27,500 - £32,000 (DOE)\n\nHours: Full time – Monday – Friday 9:00-17:00 (midweek and weekend overtime available)\n\nAbout the role\n\nThis entry-level role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to key rail, highways and drainage infrastructure projects. You will work alongside senior engineers and technical specialists, assisting in geotechnical investigations, data analysis, and the design and implementation of geotechnical solutions for rail projects.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n• Conduct site-based logging of soil and rock samples in line with BS5930, Eurocode 7, and project-specific requirements.\n• Supervise drilling, trial pitting, and in-situ testing (SPT, CPT, etc.) operations on a variety of sites (brownfield, greenfield, infrastructure, etc.).\n• Liaise with drilling crews and site personnel to ensure smooth running of field activities.\n• Collect, label, and manage samples for laboratory testing in accordance with QA/QC protocols.\n• Maintain detailed and accurate field records, including borehole logs, groundwater observations, and photographic records.\n• Prepare clear and concise factual reports including borehole logs, test schedules, and site observations.\n\nBenefits:\n• Flexible Working\n• Hybrid Working Model\n• 36 days holiday (inc BH)\n• 3 standdown days per year\n• Gym membership\n• Generous bonus structure\n• Group Life Assurance\n• Overtime and weekend pay\n• Endless opportunities to develop as an engineer\n\nQualifications and Skills:\n• Education: A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field. A master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related disciplines is a plus but not essential.\n• Technical Skills: Familiarity with geotechnical testing methods, data interpretation, and basic geotechnical design principles.
