You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance backend services that support real-time online games and applications. You will work closely with game teams to establish service requirements to deliver secure, scalable and engaging multiplayer experiences.\n\nResponsibilities:\n• Oversee the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of backend services and on demand deployment of servers\n• Work with designers and other disciplines to understand game requirements, deliver backend solutions and help integrate user-facing elements with services\n• Ensure the scalability and reliability of services for millions of concurrent users\n• Analyse system performance and identify opportunities for optimization.\n• Implement security and data protection methods to protect player information and comply with data protection laws\n• Collaborate with player support and other teams to address issues and improve player experience.\n• Keep informed on the latest development in backend technologies and ensure our solutions remain relevant\n• Provide guidance and support for junior team members\n• Create and maintain documentation for relevant and interested parties regarding backend infrastructures.\n\nREQUIREMENTS:\n\nTo be considered for this Programmer / Backend Engineer role you must meet the following criteria:\n• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or comparable discipline.\n• Hands-on experience in backend development, with a focus on multiplayer games\n• Strong experience with cloud services such as AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS, Elasticache) or equivalent\n• Strong understanding of containerization platforms such as Kubernetes, ACI, EKS or similar\n• Database management (MySQL, NoSQL).\n• Source control and code review tools (Git/Perforce/Swarm).\n• Highly motivated and able to learn new technologies quickly.\n• Knowledge of relevant console platforms certification requirements (XRs and TRCs etc)\n• Expertise with microservices and languages such as Java, Kotlin, C# or similar\n• Experience with message queue systems such as RabbitMQ or similar\n• Experience with product development lifecycle.\n• Stress-testing, performance-tuning, and optimization skills.\n• Debugging in multi-threaded environments.\n• Eligible to work in the UK.\n\nDesirable Skills:\n• Technologies such as Zookeeper, Terraform, Ansible, Cassandra, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Spark, Redis, MongoDB, CosmoDB, Xsolla Backend(AcceleratXR), Pragma, Playfab, Epic Online Services, Unity Game Services, Firebase, Edgegap, Photon\n• Game engine experience with Unreal or Unity\n• Web application development experience (NodeJS, JavaScript, TypeScript)\n• Proficiency in Linux operating system and troubleshooting\n• Google gRPC and protobuf knowledge.\n• Automated Testing\n\nREMUNERATION:\n\nThe successful Programmer / Backend Engineer will receive:\n\n-Competitive Salary + Benefits\n\n-Company bonus scheme\n\n-Private healthcare\n\n-Flexible working hours.\n\n-20 days holiday + Banks + 2 weeks shutdown over Christmas\n\n-Staff Care packages\n\n-Social Gaming nights.\n\n-Company outings & events (Summer BBQs & Christmas Parties)\n\nTo be considered for this vacancy or to find out more information please apply now.\n\nServices advertised by Talk Recruitment are that of an employment business and/or agency",
