Spacecraft Software Engineer (m/f/d) Internship/Master ThesisDepartment: System Design & System EngineeringEmployment Type: Intern / StudentSchedule: Full or part-timeSeniority: Entry levelLocation: MünchenAs part of our Systems Engineering team in Munich, Germany, you will contribute to the development and integration of spacecraft systems for an upcoming In-Orbit Refueling Demonstration mission. This role provides hands-on experience in defining the operational architecture of the payload. This includes operational concepts, state-machine development, and system-level logic, while working closely with a multidisciplinary team. The position is planned for a duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension. We also offer the opportunity to convert the work into a Master’s thesis, with the exact topic tailored to the candidate’s interests and strengths.Your role will include:Define payload operational concepts across all mission phases.Develop the payload state-machine including fault modes and safe mode transitions.Support requirements management, interface definition, and system budgets.Contribute to FMECA and failure-handling logic.Develop test procedures for operational modes and mission simulation support.Prepare operations documentation and mission timelines.Support creation of autonomy rules and mode transition constraints.Assist in ground segment readiness preparations.Enrolled in a Master’s or advanced Bachelor’s student in in Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or related fields.Understanding of system engineering concepts for space (mission phases, ConOps, Safe Mode, FDIR).Basic knowledge of fluidic systems and two-phase fluid physics.Familiarity with state-machine tools (Matlab, Simulink Stateflow).Strong analytical and documentation skills.Immediate and flexible start30 days annual vacation and flexible working hoursPotential for a Master’s project and/or full-time employment afterwardsEGYM Wellpass and subsidy for the DeutschlandticketComplimentary beverages, company events, and professional development opportunities
