  "job_description": "Job Overview\n\nAre you a recent Engineering graduate or taking a gap year from your degree?\n\nLooking for hands-on experience in a real manufacturing environment?\n\nWe're offering a 12-month internship at our Birmingham manufacturing site, where you'll gain practical experience in production engineering, quality improvement, and new product introduction.\n\nThis role offers an excellent opportunity to build real-world engineering experience and make a visible impact.\n\nDuties\n• Building and improving workstations, assembly jigs, and test equipment\n• Creating and updating SOPs and work instructions\n• Supporting new product launches and product transfers- Helping improve quality, efficiency, and lean workflows\n• Setting up Poka-Yoke (error-proofing) fixtures- Supporting 5S / 6S and continuous improvement initiatives\n• You'll work closely with production and engineering teams, gaining real responsibility and developing practical skills that will set you up for a career in Manufacturing, Production, or Quality Engineering.\n• Management and planning of equipment maintenance and or calibration - (such as SMT machines - Air line and Air extraction systems )\n• To schedule, plan and conduct routine maintenance checks & completion of all required documentation\n• To arrange external contract maintenance / repair\n• Routine testing of ESD facilities and work benches plus documentation\n\nQualifications\n• An Engineering graduate (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or similar) or a student on a gap year - Advantageous\n• Someone practical, proactive, and keen to learn\n• Ability to interpret engineering drawings (desirable)\n• Interest in lean manufacturing and problem solving\n• Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail\n• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team\n• Good communication skills and a professional attitude\n• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities\n• Basic numeracy and literacy skills are required\n• Must be reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of work\n\nThis position offers a rewarding environment for motivated individuals seeking career growth.
