Job Overview Are you a recent Engineering graduate or taking a gap year from your degree? Looking for hands-on experience in a real manufacturing environment? We're offering a 12-month internship at our Birmingham manufacturing site, where you'll gain practical experience in production engineering, quality improvement, and new product introduction. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build real-world engineering experience and make a visible impact. Duties • Building and improving workstations, assembly jigs, and test equipment • Creating and updating SOPs and work instructions • Supporting new product launches and product transfers- Helping improve quality, efficiency, and lean workflows • Setting up Poka-Yoke (error-proofing) fixtures- Supporting 5S / 6S and continuous improvement initiatives • You'll work closely with production and engineering teams, gaining real responsibility and developing practical skills that will set you up for a career in Manufacturing, Production, or Quality Engineering. • Management and planning of equipment maintenance and or calibration - (such as SMT machines - Air line and Air extraction systems ) • To schedule, plan and conduct routine maintenance checks & completion of all required documentation • To arrange external contract maintenance / repair • Routine testing of ESD facilities and work benches plus documentation Qualifications • An Engineering graduate (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or similar) or a student on a gap year - Advantageous • Someone practical, proactive, and keen to learn • Ability to interpret engineering drawings (desirable) • Interest in lean manufacturing and problem solving • Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team • Good communication skills and a professional attitude • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities • Basic numeracy and literacy skills are required • Must be reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of work This position offers a rewarding environment for motivated individuals seeking career growth.
