About Mozart AI Imagine a world where everyone around you creates music – together, in real time. That's the world we started building six months ago. Since then, 100k+ users have created 1M+ songs on Mozart – from shower singers to seasoned artists, including A$AP Rocky's producer. Mozart lets creators translate ideas into professional-grade music in seconds, with as much control as they want. We've raised $7M+ from Balderton Capital, Kevin Hartz (ex-Eventbrite CEO), Emery Wells (ex Frame.io CEO), and others to make music creation as universal and engaging as music listening. We're a small, talent-dense team building the future of music from our London office. We operate with high ownership, high velocity, and low-ego collaboration – specialist generalists who work hard, learn fast, and ship relentlessly. We care deeply, and we're here to build something that outlives us. About the Role You'll own and ship major product milestones end-to-end, starting with our next big feature, while restructuring how we build on the frontend so the team ships faster for years to come. You'll lead our React codebase into a clean, scalable architecture, drive the migration to server-side rendering, and partner on our database migration from non-relational to relational. This role is for someone who cares deeply about code organisation, is experienced in React and state management, and ships production features at founder speed. What You'll Do • Own and ship major product features end-to-end. Research model capabilities, prototype core flows, and deliver production-ready MVPs with instrumentation, edge-case coverage, and rollout plans • Redesign the frontend architecture to unlock faster shipping. Establish a clean component and module structure, a clear state management approach, and patterns that make the codebase easy to navigate and build on • Lead the migration to server-side rendering (e.g., Next.js or equivalent). Convert the highest-value pages first for SEO and performance, shipped incrementally without slowing feature delivery • Partner on the database migration from non-relational to relational. Help design the migration plan with the backend engineer and execute safely with zero data loss • Add pragmatic automated testing. Critical E2E automatic and agentic flows to increase release confidence and reduce production fires • Ship at founder-level cadence. Meaningful updates every week, with tight feedback loops and fast iteration based on real user signal What We're Looking For • Deep React and frontend architecture expertise. Has personally architected and refactored large React codebases. Cares about component design, separation of concerns, and clean abstractions. Understands React's internals and trade-offs, not just its API surface • TypeScript mastery. Writes strict, well-typed TypeScript naturally. Comfortable with advanced patterns (generics, discriminated unions, utility types) and can enforce type safety across a growing codebase without slowing the team down • State management depth. Has designed and implemented state management solutions (e.g., Zustand, Redux, Jotai, or similar) in production. Understands local vs global state, re-render avoidance, and keeping state predictable at scale • Strong database knowledge. Solid working knowledge of both relational (e.g., Postgres, MySQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., Firestore, MongoDB). Can design schemas, write performant queries, and support a migration from NoSQL to relational • Real SSR experience. Has shipped server-side rendering in production (Next.js or equivalent). Understands hydration, streaming, caching strategies, and the performance and SEO trade-offs. Can lead a migration incrementally • High standards for code organisation. Treats a clean codebase as a product in itself. Naming conventions, folder structure, modularity. Sets standards that make the entire team faster and more confident • First-principles thinker. You challenge what doesn't make sense, but stay humble and update your thinking when new evidence appears • Ownership + high velocity + low ego. You care about outcomes after release, not just merges. You ship fast, take risks, and do whatever it takes for the team Nice-To-Haves • Genuine curiosity for frontend frameworks beyond React (e.g., Vue, Svelte, Solid). Brings ideas from across the ecosystem and isn't dogmatic about tooling • Experience with CI/CD, containerisation, and cloud deployment (e.g., AWS, Docker) • Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright) or agentic/AI-assisted testing approaches • Experience with payments (e.g., Stripe or RevenueCat) • Experience with media-heavy frontends (streaming, CDN-backed media) or consuming real-time APIs (e.g., WebSockets) Perks & Benefits • Significant Equity • Office in Central London • Medical & Health Insurance • Frive Meal Prep • Gym Membership • Pension Contribution • MacBook of your choice • Work on a product you'll be using!
