  "job_description": "Position: Software & Electrical Controls Engineer\n\nLocation: West Yorkshire\n\nSalary: £50-60K + benefits\n\nUK-wide travel\n\nNicholas Associates have an excellent opportunity for a Software & Electrical Controls Engineer, to join a leading industrial machine manufacturer in Yorkshire.\n\nAs the Software and Electrical Controls Engineer you will be responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning automation and control systems for machinery. This is a hands-on, project-based role requiring practical problem-solving across design, build, and site commissioning phases. You will be expected to travel to client site (UK wide), often with overnight stays.\n\nKey Responsibilities include:\n• Develop, test, and modify PLC software (typically ladder logic) for automated machinery, including safety PLC systems.\n• Design control circuits and electrical panels for equipment such as presses, handling systems, grinders, mixers, and extruders.\n• Produce detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, and installation documentation in line with required safety and performance standards e.g. PLd.\n• Select, configure, and integrate control hardware, drives, sensors, and instrumentation.\n• Generate safety documentation, including design risk assessments, SISTEMA safety reports, and FMECA analyses.\n• Support and oversee electrical installations both in-house and at customer sites.\n• Commission systems onsite, including testing, fault-finding, and optimisation.\n• Troubleshoot and resolve control system and installation issues promptly.\n• Work closely with project managers, mechanical engineers, and customers to ensure successful project delivery.\n• Provide technical support and clear documentation throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nYou will have:\n• Proven experience in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Mitsubishi).\n• Experience with machine safety systems (PL and SIL ratings).\n• Familiarity with CAD software for electrical schematics (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical).\n• Experience designing and programming control systems for complex machinery\n• Experience in hydraulic engineering",
