  "job_description": "Engineering Manager – Whatley\n\nSalary up to £64,000 depending on experience + Benefits\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to provide strong leadership and technical support to the production department at our Whatley site. Your primary purpose will be to improve fixed plant availability, support operational performance, and help the site achieve a “best‑in‑class” coefficient through effective management of engineering, maintenance, and reliability activities. This role will require occasional unsocial hours, including call‑outs, shutdowns, and weekend work. Any such time will be compensated with time off in lieu, agreed in advance\n\nLeadership & Team Management\n• Lead and direct the mechanical and electrical teams to achieve agreed performance outcomes.\n• Ensure the team is fully resourced, trained, supervised, and competent.\n• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, aligned with the site’s CLIMB objectives.\n\nSafety & Sustainability\n• Work with Quarry and Logistics Managers to deliver the highest standards of health and safety in line with Heidelberg Materials’ H&S Plan.\n• Oversee Entropy actions, near-hit reporting, method statements, risk assessments, and permissions to proceed.\n• Investigate breakdowns and major downtime events to prevent recurring failures.\n\nAsset & Maintenance Management\n• Improve asset coefficients through effective project management, capex planning, and S&R applications.\n• Ensure the preventative maintenance system (PPM) is fully utilised, prioritised, and effective.\n• Plan and communicate maintenance shutdowns and weekend works.\n• Manage static and mobile plant breakdown investigations and follow-up actions.\n\nWhy Join us?\n\nAt Heidelberg Materials, we don’t just offer jobs—we build careers.
