Cloud Infrastructure Engineer – Temp to Perm Cannock - Onsite 3/4 days a week 12 weeks contract to then turn permanent Day Rate (Inside IR35): ~£254 per day Permanent Salary: £56,000 + benefits My client is seeking a motivated and technically capable Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support their core AWS environments and business systems. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well‑established organisation while helping shape the ongoing evolution of their cloud strategy. This role begins as a 12–13 week temporary assignment, transitioning to permanent employment at £56,000. You will provide end‑to‑end infrastructure support across AWS, automation, service operations, and resilience activities, while working in a fast‑paced environment where innovation and continuous improvement are encouraged. What You’ll Be Doing • Providing comprehensive support across all business units for AWS infrastructure services. • Managing and maintaining AWS environments, including CloudFormation, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, and AWS Backup. • Handling customer incidents and requests via ServiceNow, providing timely and effective resolution. • Automating operational tasks and business processes using AWS tools, scripting, and AI. • Recommending and implementing improvements to drive resilience, performance, and innovation. • Producing clear operational documentation and technical insights for internal teams. • Managing AWS infrastructure cost efficiency. • Supporting contact centre capabilities through Amazon Connect. • Participating in Disaster Recovery (DR) testing and wider resilience exercises. • Reducing recurring incidents through thorough root cause analysis. • Conducting platform maintenance including patching, upgrades, and general upkeep. • Joining the team’s on‑call rota when required. Essential Experience & Skills • A foundational understanding of AWS services such as CloudFormation, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, AWS Backup, and Amazon Connect. • Understanding of networking concepts: Direct Connect, VPNs, routing, WAFs, VPCs, subnetting. • 18+ months' experience supporting a Windows Server domain (2016+), covering operational and security functions. • Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS. • Hands‑on experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell and/or Python). • Experience with cloud provisioning/configuration and infrastructure as code. • Good customer‑facing and diagnostic skills, able to work under pressure. • Desire and confidence to challenge traditional infrastructure approaches (PaaS, serverless). • Experience automating deployments and building scalable, repeatable solutions.
