  "job_description": "ABOUT THE JOB\n\nWe’re looking for a Junior Systems Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of high-quality control system software solutions across a range of client projects. You’ll undertake software design activities involving PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, ensuring your work is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.\n\nYou’ll play an important role in maintaining compliance with our Quality Management and Health, Safety and Environmental systems, while also identifying opportunities to enhance software design practices and improve internal processes. We are dedicated to working in partnership with our colleagues, leaders and customers, and developing a culture that allows us to inspire, and deliver a safe, sustainable future where people shine.\n\nSUMMARY OF ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nYou will:\n• Be responsible for completing allocated Software Engineering activities on specified projects across the business.\n• Recommend best practice software engineering processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance\n• Act as a Team member on multi discipline teams.\n• Take ownership of the allocated Software Engineering activities.\n• Provide technical support to the business development, estimating and onsite engineering teams\n• Be responsible for overseeing all allocated aspects of software and system design, from contract award to handover\n• Take part in the the preparation of technical and contract documentation for issue and analysis of returned tenders\n• Report on Software Engineering activities and processes on a regular basis to the Systems Manager Software\n• Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, Engineering and Quality standards and procedures are adhered to\n• Take part in Software Resource Planning and Management\n• Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost\n• Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on engineering activities\n• Support the Sales team in developing product specification and quote activities\n• Appraise and interpret client requirements to ensure that technical, legislative and commercial aspects are delivered on each project\n• Liaise and coordinate with clients, members of the engineering team and contractors on technical and commercial issues.\n\nSUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS\n\nWe are looking for:\n\nExperience and Knowledge\n• Educated to at least HNC level in relevant engineering discipline able to demonstrate capability of MOD Security cleared to at least SC level.\n• At least one year of software development experience in a project environment with a proven track record of delivering successful systems.\n• Experience of operating within an ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 18001 environment.\n• Experience using Software Packages relevant to the role of a Software Engineer i.e PLC, HMI, SCADA.\n• Proven experience of delivering customer satisfaction.\n\nSkills and Abilities\n• Technical Capacity.\n• Team Membership.\n• Project Management.\n• Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.\n• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.\n• Ability to add value, reduce costs and suggest business improvements.\n• Ability to organise workload effectively for the purpose of meeting deadlines.\n• Ability to demonstrate flexibility and versatility combined with initiative, drive and ability to meet deadlines.\n• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a wide variety of contacts.\n• Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.\n• Commercially and financially astute with experience of managing budgets.\n• Technical mindset.\n• An appreciation of and an ability to positively resolve issues.\n\nCompany Pre-Requisites\n\nTo be considered for this role you will be required to:\n• Pass DBS and BPSS check.\n• Have a minimum of 2-1 degree in a relevant subject.\n• Be a UK National (no dual passports).\n• Have lived in the UK for the last 5 years.\n• Have no spent or current criminal convictions.\n• Be prepared to work in the Nuclear defence sector.\n• Experience in regulated industry (preferred).\n\nVALUES\n\nIn line with our company values we are looking for someone who,\n\n📈Will 'Deliver' what we promise\n\n🦺Will demand the highest levels of 'Safety and Security'\n\n🏆Will apply 'Technical Mastery'\n\n🧠Is committed to 'Continual Learning'\n\n🤝Can work 'Collaboratively'\n\n💡Will challenge the norm to make a difference through 'Innovation'\n\nWHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT WORKING HERE\n\nAs a Great Place to Work® certified organisation with over 50 years of deep technology expertise, you’ll work alongside specialists who solve complex, real-world challenges.
