Description

Who we are CreateFuture is fast becoming the UK's most recognisable digital consultancy, with years of experience building digital products and services for major organisations whilst putting our people first. We have offices in the centre of Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, and London as well as remote employees located throughout the country. We are a team of creators - whether that's code, project plans, go to market strategies, culture initiatives, marketing campaigns, large language models or people policies. And together, with our clients, we create the future. This has seen us collaborate and partner across a multitude of industries and sectors, with the likes of PayPal, adidas, Natwest, FanDuel and Money Saving Expert, to name just a few. Our reputation as a partner determined to deliver high-quality, robust and thoughtful products has enabled us to scale to over 500 people in the last couple of years, and it is our amazing people - along with the safe, supportive and friendly culture we have built - that makes CreateFuture a great place to work. Don't just take our word for it though, we have been recognised by Best Workplaces UK multiple years in a row - across a number of categories - and our employee exit rate is astonishingly low. Join us on our journey… Let's create something awesome, together, today. About the role and team: You will form part of a cross-functional agile team, working closely with 3-5 other engineers, led by a Tech Lead, and working closely with QA, Product and Design to deliver high-quality work for clients across a number of industries. We strive to create the best product possible with everyone's effort, and you'll be an integral part of that mission. Your role in the team is highly valued, and you'll be a key player in ensuring the success of our projects. We define our Lead role as someone who is able to confidently champion technical improvements, sets the bar high for best engineering practices and takes responsibility for the overall success of the project for the client and CreateFuture. What you'll be doing: • Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, and test both frontend and backend components using a combination of JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Java. • Backend Development: Building robust and efficient backend systems using Java, RESTful APIs, and database technologies. • Frontend Development: You'll also bring front-end development experience with excellent knowledge of JavaScript and modern Single Page App frameworks (React, Vue.js, Angular, Svelte etc.) • Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge and promote software engineering best practices at all times. You will also lead the technical direction on your client project and ensure that your solutions are well understood and implemented. • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve complex technical challenges. • Collaboration: Work closely with the full project team (including BAs, QAs and members of the client team) to provide the best solutions to our clients • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends. We'd love to talk if you have: • Commercial experience with one or more technical stacks: Java, .NET, Typescript (Backend/Frontend), Automation, or Mobile (native and/or cross-platform) • Skilled at using modern cloud infrastructure, experienced when it comes to deploying and hosting applications on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. • You actively facilitate and encourage knowledge sharing within your client team, as well as the wider Engineering department. • You advocate for best engineering practices such as: code reviews, paired programming and automated tests. Nice to have • You are familiar with the concept of DevOps and CI-CD • Experience of using tools and applications such as: K8s, Docker, Terraform, Splunk, Chef, Puppet or Grafana What we'll offer you: At CreateFuture, we challenge ourselves to go beyond the obvious and we care deeply about our craft and customers. With us, you'll have ambitious projects to sink your teeth into and plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. You'll be part of our safe, supportive and friendly culture - that looks after you - and join our team of genuinely great people. Our benefits include: • Total 35 days holiday (we have flexible bank holidays) • Comprehensive private medical insurance • Enhanced parental and adoption leave • 1-1 professional financial coaching • Pension - matched up to 5% As this is a hybrid role, we're looking for people within a commuting distance of our London office and who are flexible to travel to client sites and CreateFuture regional offices. We are very flexible and trust you to manage your own schedule to balance face-to-face time with clients, colleagues and working from home. We create and reinforce a culture that rewards employees' impact, not just activity. We trust our employees to work autonomously and promote ownership across all levels. Next steps: Our Talent team aims to respond to all applications within a reasonable timeframe, regardless of whether or not we progress your application. Our interview process: • 30-minute call with one of our talent acquisition team. • 1-hour technical assessment. • Take home test OR pair programming session (30/60 minute) + values interview. You can choose a short take-home task or a live pairing exercise for the final interview, whichever suits you best. Our interview process is designed as an opportunity both for our interviewers to learn about your expertise, interests and motivations and for you to gain insights into CreateFuture, the role and the team, so throughout the process, you'll meet a few people from our Engineering team as well as others from our wider teams to help you get a well-rounded view of the role and life at CreateFuture. We believe that representative teams made up of people with different backgrounds, skills, and points of view help us build the best workplace possible, and enable us to create genuinely innovative, broadly useful products. We are committed to our goal of creating the most inclusive workplace possible. As we strive to build an environment where everyone can thrive and be themselves, we will continue to investigate and challenge biases, while working to identify and remove obstacles to inclusion. If you need additional support or accommodation during the application process, please don't hesitate to let us know. What we'll offer you: We trust people to do their best work. That means flexibility over rigid rules, impact over activity, and real investment in your growth both professionally and personally. You'll be part of a supportive, and friendly culture, surrounded by smart, curious people who care deeply about what they do. We offer flexible working, including hybrid and remote options. Our office hubs are located in Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, London and Bulgaria, with occasional travel to client sites or CreateFuture offices when needed. We trust you to manage your time balancing collaboration with client time and focused work. What matters is the impact you have, not how busy you look. Our hiring process We try to keep our hiring process clear, fair and respectful of your time. We aim to get back to everyone who applies and we will be upfront about where you are in the process. It usually looks like this: • Call with our Talent Acquisition Team • Role specific capability interview Depending on the role, we might also ask you to do a short presentation, a practical or technical task or have a values focused conversation. We will explain what is involved before anything happens. Inclusion at CreateFuture We believe diverse teams build better workplaces and better products. We want CreateFuture to be a place where people feel able to be themselves and do their best work. If you need any adjustments or support during the application process, just. We will do what we can to help. We look forward to your application!
