  "job_description": "Senior/Lead Software Engineer (10 roles)\n\nNewcastle (in office)\n\n£80,000-£130,000\n\nDefence Tech Start-up\n\nAs the Senior/Lead Software Engineer you'll work alongside some of the best engineers/teams in the country, solving problems no one else has before. This is focused on software, data and intelligence capabilities. Hard technical problems + meaningful real-world impact.\n\nYou'll have the opportunity to work across Software Engineering's full stack, utilising Python, C#, Typescript/React, and will be advancing into C++, Rust. Other skills that you can use/pick up, include; Golang and Java depending on the project.\n\nTypically, they tend to muck in where needed, so having a broad skillset, or at least a willingness to learn other skills is a big plus - happy to take specialists in one area. You could see yourself gaining experience in other areas e.g. Data Engineering, AI/ML Engineering, Test Automation and/or DevOps.\n\nThey're a new consultancy, focused on solving complex software and data problems for defence and national security organisations.\n\nThey’re building the team from scratch in Newcastle and are deliberately setting a very high bar, hiring engineers from top universities who are among the strongest technically in their field.\n\nThe work is very problem-solving focused, small teams tackling complex systems, often working on completely new challenges every few months.\n\nThey’re hiring for, and value, people who:\n• Enjoy working on challenging systems\n• Truly understand problem-solving, from first principles\n• Enjoy variety\n• Are adaptable and articulate/able to communicate internally as well as externally\n\nRequirements:\n• 2:1 or 1st Class bachelors degree from a leading university in a STEM subject\n• Eligibility to obtain security clearance\n• Experience in defence environments a big plus, but not required, as long as you're happy working within this world.",
