  "job_description": "Role: Data Scientist - Industrial AI\n\nProject: AI & Data Science Solutions for Industrial Operations\n\nIndustry: Oil & Gas\n\nLocation: London (Hybrid - 3 days per week)\n\nRate: £700-800/day (Inside IR35)\n\nContract: 6 months initial (multi-year scope)\n\nX4 Technology are partnered with a global Oil & Gas organisation to recruit a contract Data Scientist to join their Industrial AI team, delivering cutting-edge AI and data science capabilities across global operations.\n\nThis team applies AI to a wide range of business problems including analysis of production asset data, experimental design for R&D, financial modelling and forecasting.\n\nResponsibilities of the Contract Data Scientist (Industrial AI)\n• Apply advanced AI & Gen AI to build solutions that empower business teams to make smarter, data-driven decisions.\n• Lead and support projects by scoping AI initiatives, contributing to software development and streamlining digital analysis processes.\n• Turn data into business impact through guidance to stakeholders and promotion of best practices in AI adoption.\n• Collaborate globally with Data Science teams and business units worldwide to deploy scalable AI solutions.\n• Drive innovation, identify new opportunities, solve complex challenges creatively and embed AI across industrial workflows.\n\nRequirements for the Contract Data Scientist (Industrial AI)\n• Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, AI or STEM discipline\n• 2+ years’ demonstrable experience applying data science and AI in industry or engineering contexts.\n• Hands-on expertise in Python coding, Gen AI and core data science techniques.\n• Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with experience engaging stakeholders at all levels.\n• Experience in data consulting, analytics translation, and software tool development is highly desirable.\n\nThis is a 6-month initial contract with multi-year scope, offering a day rate of £700-800/day inside IR35.
