  "job_description": "Lead AI Engineer\n\n2 days per month in the Reigate, Surrey office\n\nAbout the Company\n\nWe are working with a major UK financial services organisation that has already embedded AI across multiple operational teams and is now scaling its capability further. With numerous live AI applications supporting frontline colleagues, the business is investing heavily in expanding its AI function and strengthening leadership across engineering.\n\nThis is an opportunity to take ownership of a growing AI team and help shape the direction of applied AI across a large, customer-facing organisation.\n\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\n• Lead and develop a team of AI engineers, supporting both their technical growth and career progression\n• Set engineering standards and guide best practices across research, experimentation, and production delivery\n• Define and evolve the AI roadmap, aligning use cases with long-term platform strategy\n• Work closely with senior stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities for generative AI and advanced analytics\n• Oversee the full lifecycle of AI initiatives, from early scoping through to live deployment and measurable business impact\n• Contribute hands-on to model development, prompt design, and production integration where required\n• Help ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with governance and regulatory requirements\n• Act as a senior voice within the wider data and technology function, influencing strategy and capability building\n\nWhat They’re Looking For\n• Strong experience delivering AI solutions into production environments, with clear evidence of commercial impact\n• Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding engineers in a fast-moving environment\n• Deep knowledge of advanced NLP techniques, including prompt engineering and working with large language models in live systems\n• Ability to take research concepts and turn them into robust, production-ready services\n• Confidence working both independently and within cross-functional teams\n• Experience operating within regulated or complex enterprise environments is desirable\n• Clear communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders\n\nWhat’s On Offer\n• Annual bonus scheme\n• Strong pension and insurance benefits\n• Generous annual leave with options to buy and sell days\n• Flexible working arrangements that support family and life commitments\n• Additional wellbeing, financial, and lifestyle perks\n\nIf this role interests you and you would like to find out more (or find out about other roles), please apply here or contact us via niall.wharton@Xcede.com (feel free to include a CV for review).",
